Field Trip to Petco

It was such a beautiful day we were able to walk to the store

 We have been learning about amphibians and reptiles at preschool. We were in search of snakes, turtles, lizards, and toads.

 We spotted baby kittens

On our field trip we saw many different types of birds, Guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, ferrets, snakes, frogs, toads, and spiders. We had learned about these animals at school and were excited to see them in person. 

The camera's batteries were running low so we didn't get many snap shots. As we left Ms. Ashley received many requests for a new class pet!!!! 

Butterflies Unit~Matching Game

The preschoolers played a butterfly matching game

 They used magnifying glasses to take a closer look at the differences between each butterfly

 The kids talked about and compared butterflies that they have seen in the outdoors. They also compared them to butterflies we had seen at our Botanica field trip to the Butterfly Garden.

We found a prairie dog. The kids thought it looked pretty real.

They weren't afraid to touch it!!!

There was a huge glass aquarium with many fish in it

We watched a presentation about snakes and owls

The preschoolers did an awesome job sitting still and listening carefully

They even got a chance to touch a real snake! They were not afraid!!!

We learned many new things about owls

We could not touch the owl like we did the snake. The owl was too scared of us.

Releasing the Butterflies Into the Great Outdoors

We released our butterflies into an open field

 The preschoolers were afraid that the butterflies would fly away quickly...

 But, they decided to check things out in the grass...

Then they flew onto the kids shirts

 They even flew onto their fingers...

 And their shirts yet again!!!

Those butterflies did not want to leave. They really liked playing with the kids!

Eventually one by one they flew off into the sky. The children will miss their butterfly friends.

 Our preschoolers brought their bikes or trikes and helmets to the park to ride and race
